Trinity University Rugby

In what looks like a very big win for the red and black we now have a legitimate university club team that has been supported and coached by our own players. From the beginnings of the Trinity University team coached early on by Timana Tahu when barely 7 players would show up to the first 15s TRU cup match against Southern Methodist University on October 14, SARFC has been their all the way. The goal of university outreach programs is to spark the interests of rugby in San Antonio and more importantly have a direct line of players to SARFC to sport the red and black in the near future.

Be on the look out for more from Trinity Rugby coached by SARFC's very own Arnal Prasad, Travis Valiant and Griffin "Fiji" Simmons as they play UT Dallas on SARFC's home pitch at 746 Morning View Dr. San Antonio on October 21st at 2pm followed by a Texas A & M Central against UT Dallas B side.

SARFC D3 hosts Austin Horde

The SARFC Men's D3 had their second home game of the season against the Austin Horde on a typical January day sporting a warm and sunny 80 degrees. The boys at home dressed out in their brand new set of uniforms colored in the infamous black and red. The Horde showed up with numbers ready to play even with all 3 sides having a game on Saturday in different locations. The Horde played against a strong select side from SARFC smarting from a tough loss against the Blacks just a week prior. SARFC looked determined to make a strong showing and they did. With acommanding lead of 33-5 going into the second half led by Coach Cliff Davidson and new addition to the team Calvin Johnson putting on some athletic moves on the boys from Austin.

With the beginning of the second half it looked like the Horde had caught their breath and led the scoring with 3 consecutive tries in the first 20 minutes of the second half. The boys in red and black finally got their game  and put the moves on the Horde with 4 tries in the last 20 minutes after coming back to their original game plan led by the forward pack. With smashing crashes up the middle drawing the defense in and disciplined ball retention the Armadillo's finally put the cap on the Horde with a stunning 54 to 33 victory.
