The San Antonio Rugby Football Club will host Army Medical Services from the British Army at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 15 at the Wheatley Sports Fields. Pitch address is 746 Morningview Dr., SATX, 78220.
Army Medical Services, commonly known as AMS, consists of players from the Army Medical Corps and/or numerous medical regiments and squadrons. They compete in the Corps Championship – League 2, which is made up of Corps and Infantry sides of the Regular Army. For many players, the Corps Championship League is a stepping-stone to representing the Army at the Senior Level. Needless to say, the standard of rugby played by AMS and other Corps teams is among the highest in Britain.
During AMS’s stay in San Antonio, they will have the opportunity to learn about the city’s rich military history. With San Antonio being a hub for military operations, it is no surprise that San Antonio RFC has developed close ties that have resulted in many military-based players representing the red and black.
With the Cup season only a couple of months away, the match with AMS will provide the SARFC coaching staff an opportunity to gain some valuable insight into the player personnel and skill levels going into the 2016-17 season.
We invite all rugby fans to join us in what will surely be a fun-filled day for everyone. Post-match festivities will include a Texas style BBQ, social, and club gift exchange.
Saturday’s a rugby day!
