Feb 3rd TRU DIV II Cup Point Standings

SARFC,

What a great start on the season those far. I have made an unofficial tally of where we sit in the standings for our pursuit of the single western berth the TRU has this season.

The Dallas Quins II has taken a commanding lead on 1st place (25 points) with 5 wins and 1 lose to Bay Area RFC (18 to 28 ). The Quins II have had victories over Woodlands II (61 to 14), HARC II (56 to 3), Blacks II (36 to 5) and Bay Area (38 to 20 ).

Bay Area is currently holding second place in the cup points (12 points) has two nice wins over the Blacks (at home 28 to 12) and win away at the Quins (28 to 18 ). They have also amassed 2 bonus points in their loses to the Quins and Woodlands (both at home), but with them not earning any cup points in their match last weekend against SARFC, BARC will have to win out the rest of their season if they hope to make it to the Westerns (2 wins and 3 loses).

Tied for third place with 10 Cup points are Woodlands II and SARFC.

Woodlands II is 2 and 2 with a 2nd half come from behind victory over Bay Area (@ BARC) and a forfeit win on the books over the Blacks last weekend (@ Home). Woodlands II has two loses against the Quins (14 to 61) and SARFC (43 to 3). Woodlands is still very much in the hunt for finishing out strong this season

SARFC has had to standout victories over Woodland II (43 to 5) and Bay Area (50 to 0 ). If SARFC can continue on at this rate they will have a strong chance to dethrone the Quins II side later on this season. Currently at 2 and O, SARFC is the only undefeated team in Div II.

In 5th place is HARC II with 5 cup points (1 and 2). This Houston side has two lopsided loses to the Quins II (3 to 56 and 5 to 70 ) and a nice win at the Blacks II (41 to 10 ). HARC II is still in statistically in the run for the Westerns; they could easily come from behind later in the season and overtake the current front runners with big wins in their next few matches.

In 6th place is the Blacks II side, they are 0 and 4. The 2009 season is must be a rebuilding year for this Austin based side. They apparently have been struggling with numbers this season and have been traveling light to some of their away matches with loses away to the Quins II (5 to 36), BARC (12 to 28 ) and a forfeit to Woodlands II (28 to 0 ). At home the Blacks II have a lose to the HARC II (10 to 41). The blacks can statistically still make Westerns but this is highly unlikely with 4 straight loses.

Two Division II matches happened last weeked. Our victory over Austin Blacks and Bay Areas victory at home over HARC II (30 to something in the Teens, this means BARC secured 5 cups points and HARC II-0).

In the Cup Points standings there has been no postional changes.
Dallas Quins II are still in 1st place (5 wins and 1 lose) with 25 cup points. Bay Area (3 wins and 3 loses, has 2 bonus points in their loses) is still holding tightly to their 2nd place postion this season with 17 cup points. SARFC is still moving strong (3-0) and 15 cup points. Woodlands (2 wins and 2 loses) is still a major contender for 1st place with 10 cup points. HARC II (one win and 3 loses with no bonus points in their lost matches) is going to have to win out the season if they hope to make the finals. even if they were to will all they matches odds are that a team with three loses in this division isnt going to make it to westerns. Austin Blacks II have no wins and 5 loses and zero cup points, the Blacks II side is statisically out of the running for westerns for this year.

SARFC,

There was no change again this weekend in the TRU Division II cup point race. The Quins II were awarded a forfeit win (28 to 0) at home over Woodlands II (Quins I ended up beated Woodlands I 110 to 0). This means the Quins II remain in 1st place with 30 points (6 wins 1 lose).

Also with a nice win this weekend at Austin Blacks II was Bay Area (29 to 19), with that win BARC remains in 2nd place (4 wins 3 loses) and 23 cup points.

SARFC is still trucking along with a big win over HARC II this weekend (65 to 3), and have amassed 20 cup points.

The cup points race for Woodlands II (10 cup points, 2 wins, 2 loses, 1 forfeit), Harc II (5 cup points, 1 win and 4 loses) and Blacks II (0 cup points, 0 wins and 4 loses, 1 forfeit) could be considered over for this season. Dont be suprised if one of more of these three sides comes back and suprizes the top three contenders for the TRU title though. Each are very strong clubs and will continue to try to upset any club that doesnt come totally prepared to face them.

This coming weeks matchups pits Division II leader Dallas Quins (6-1) traveling to compete against the number one contender SARFC (4-0). The Dallas Quins div I (8-1) side will be playing Dallas Reds div I (0-7) at home the same day.
